I installed Age Gate on the blog to prevent minors from accessing adult content.
Who I am
My name is Nyx, and my blog’s URL is: https://blog.nyx.zone.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
This blog requires users who comment to leave their name and email address to cut down on spam.
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. I am not storing said names and email addresses for nefarious purposes, nor am I selling them to anyone.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact Forms
I use Contact Form 7 as my contact form software on this blog. When you submit a message through the contact form, I capture the information you enter into the form. Contact form submissions are kept indefinitely for archival purposes only. None of the information gathered will be used to tracking, advertising or marketing purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my blog, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit my login page, the blog software will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
I do no offer registration on this blog.
Age Gate
I use the Age Gate plugin to keep adult content out of reach of minors. If you entre your date of birth in the Age Gate, you may opt-in to save your challenge response on your device in a cookie, so you don’t have to enter your date of birth in the gate each time. For privacy reasons, the cookie will not contain your date of birth or age, and neither your date of birth nor your age are stored on this website.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
I no longer use Google Analytics or Google Fonts, so without these embeds on my site, Google is not gathering data from this site.
Analytics
I use Matomo, an open-source software, as a third-party analytics software on this website. It is configured to anonymize data, to not set cookies, and to respect the Do Not Track preference.
If you wish to opt-out of Matomo, you can do so below.

Who I share your data with
By default, WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone, and I have not changed these defaults.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so the blog software can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Data from Matomo is set to be discarded after 3 months.
If you opt-in to Age Gate remembering the answer to your age challenge, the cookie will be set to expire in one (1) year.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where I send your data
Visitor comments will be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
Akismet
We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
